Overview
Alpha and Steelcase worked collaboratively on room 656A of the Gilbert Scott building to deliver this innovative space in a historic building. The renovation of this space was partially funded by the European Space Agency and the aim was to create a new concept for discovering and demonstrating business models in an interactive ecosystem. The space would provide the technology to perform remote meetings with the ESA, the university of Cambridge and other global organisations that would be participating.
The desire was to create a ‘wow factor’ with lightweight furniture that can be manipulated to create different work modes. A combination of wall mounted and mobile writable surfaces provided ample space for brainstorming and collaboration between users, and a small break-out space ensured refreshments were easily accessible.
