Overview

The tender was awarded to us to remodel an area in the Ashby Institute which was being used as a dining area/food hall. The incentive was to encourage students to use the space for study and relaxation. The challenge was to refurbish this area, making this a great place for students to work alone in solo spaces or collaboratively in multi-use breakout areas all in the same place. The area benefits from stacks of natural light, which supported the colour choices; vibrant, effervescent colours that contrast beautifully with the sumptuous dark wood finish of the flooring and walls. We used a mixture of curved seating units in a combination of contemporary patterned fabrics and faux leather with pod stools and single stem tables for tablet use or casual dining. Modular L shaped seating and feature seating shapes were used to complement the curved seating.
